How to Progress Faster: The Importance of Consistency & Timely Makeups

How to Ensure the Fastest Progress:

  • Do not skip classes.
  • If you have to miss a class, schedule the makeup as soon as possible.
  • Make use of our alternatives: Use another pool location or a different time slot.

Our goal is to ensure that every student progresses quickly and reaches a water-safe level as soon as possible, because safety is our priority.

While we do whatever we can to achieve this, we would like ask for your help with the following, in order not to hinder progress:

  1. It is not advisable to take breaks or even miss a week of classes – your student will very likely lose progress even during one missed week.
  2. If you miss a class, use your makeup as soon as possible to avoid negative impact on progress.
  3. If a class is canceled, ask for a makeup right away with a different instructor or at a different pool.
  4. If we are forced to cancel classes, we work hard on offering you alternatives at another location, so no progress is lost (often with the same instructor at the same time).

It is not advisable to miss a week of classes, your student will very likely lose progress

The success of our program is based on repetition. We do the same exercises several times during a class, and week after week until the movements are stored as muscle memory. We know that students show the best progress when they take lessons 2x per week as compared to 1x per week (no personal trainer would recommend going to the gym 1x per week…). While 1x per week is the bare minimum for a student, missing one week of classes, or even worse, missing 2 weeks, has a significant impact and will most certainly result in lost progress.  We highly encourage not skipping a week of class.

If you miss a class, use your makeup as soon as possible to avoid negative impact on progress

Should you be forced to miss a class, we highly recommend scheduling a makeup as soon as possible, ideally the same day or the next day. Only with this kind of consistency can we achieve the fast progress our program offers. We do not encourage you to accumulate makeups.  Accumulated makeups are a sure sign for slow progress. Please schedule your makeup as soon as you call out.

If a class is canceled, ask for a makeup right away with a different instructor or at a different pool

If we cancel a class or if you inform us of a callout, try to schedule the makeup right away. We often have a class available later in the day. Don’t worry about switching to a different instructor, often such a change is good as we do not want our students to get too attached to one instructor.  And you can see how other instructors teach.

If we are forced to cancel classes, we work hard on offering you alternatives at another location so no progress is lost (often with the same instructor at the same time)

Avoiding lost progress is also the reason we work very hard on giving you an alternative, should we ever have to cancel your class. This could be in the same locations with a different instructor, or on a different location. We always try to avoid canceling classes without giving you a chance to use the makeup and continue the progress.

With this in mind, nothing stands in the way of reaching your goals as fast as possible!

See you at the pool!
