babyBritish Swim School is focused on three things: swimming skills, water safety and fun. In May, as part of National Water Safety Month, we launched an online pledgefor swimmers of all ages to read and sign. So far, more than 1,150 people have taken the pledge and we aim grow that number tremendously over the summer. As we celebrate independence in the water, we encourage you to visit our site and take the pledge with your kids.
The pledge asks people to follow four simple rules:

  • Never swim alone
  • Never play or swim near drains or suction fittings
  • Always dive feet first
  • Always obey the pool rules

“Kids’ swimming lessons allow families to feel more secure around the water, but we all need to adhere to basic rules to stay safe,” said Rita Goldberg, founder and CEO of British Swim School. “We want thousands more people to read through and acknowledge the importance of this pledge. I have no doubt that it will save lives.”

“It’s July! This is an exciting month for pool events, beach parties and backyard water activities,” added Goldberg. “Here is one way to open the dialogue about the potential for water tragedies and encourage both children and adults to make an important promise to be safe.”
