Remembering a Civil Rights Swim-In

We all know about the sit-in protests that were such an important part of the civil rights movement. But did you know that the last protest before the Civil Rights Act passed was a swim-in? The swim-in was planned by Martin Luther King Jr. and took place in St. Augustine, Florida on June 18, 1964. The Senate passed the Civil Rights Act the very next day, thanks in part to the media coverage of the swim-in. You can read the full story by NPR here.
