Birch, Owner
Bringing the British Swim School franchise to St. Louis fulfilled many aspirations for Birch, but the most important was “knowing that we are helping to keep children safe from drowning,” which he is passionate about. As a lifelong lover of the water, Birch’s experience includes everything from teaching swim lessons to running the waterfront at a summer camp, and even certification as a Scuba instructor! While his favorite activity is working with swim students in the water, Birch usually stays busy with all the administrative and management tasks involved in owning a business. He also prioritizes spending time with his wife, two-year-old son Teddy, and two labrador retrievers, as well as practicing his handyman skills around the house! Fun fact about me: I know how to play the bagpipes and have played at a couple of family weddings!
Patti, Aquatics Manager
Patti is the glue that holds our business together. She balances so many of our BSS tasks- working in the pool or on deck, helping to recruit and train new instructors, creating schedules, and more- and she does it all with a smile on her face! What’s even more impressive is how much Patti balances outside of work- as a mother of two (three if you include their bearded dragon), volunteer at St. Louis Crisis Nursery, a steadfast “morning person,” and an avid reader and Hallmark Channel fan, she is quite well-rounded. We are very grateful to have her, and luckily she feels the same way about working for BSS. As Patti puts it, “To say this is rewarding is an understatement. I have a group of kind, talented instructors and a boss that believes in our mission.”
Favorite food: Noodles (spaghetti, fettuccine, lasagna, macaroni- you name it!)
