We’re so exited to announce Hadley as our student of the month for April! Hadley started with us as a 3-year-old minnow who was afraid of the water, but through a lot of hard work (and plenty of fun games) she has made amazing progress!

Here’s a note that her mom recently sent us that absolutely made our day!

I just wanted to send you all my heartfelt thanks for all you have taught Hadley over the past year and a half. We went to Disney this past week, and when we were not in the park we were at the pool. She was able to go down the water slide unattended! I stayed close enough to grab her if the current was too much but she would go straight to starfish and kick herself out.

She also participated in a relay race with the big kids. They had to swim from one side of the pool and back with a T-shirt on and then pass the T-shirt to the next kid. I did have her wear a life jacket, only because I knew she would get a little tired going that far. But, she kicked really hard and was only passed by the 8 year old she was up against in the last few feet. (She was the first swimmer). I am so impressed with how well she swims and how much more relaxing it is for me to take her to the pool! And, I can’t even tell you how many times she would say “Look at what Kayla taught me!” And then show me her shark fin or backstroke.

We’re so proud of her!

And here are some fun facts about Hadley, in her own words.

  • When I grow up, I want to be … a dentist (just like her mom!)
  • My favorite part of British Swim School is … jumping in the pool.
  • I love swimming because … you get to swim (we couldn’t have said it any better)
  • My favorite place to swim is … the Elks Club
  • My advice for other swimmers is … “starfish!” (YES!)
  • My favorite aquatic animal is … a whale
  • If I could go swimming anywhere in the world, it would be … the bluff where we go camping
  • My biggest swimming accomplishment is … going down the slide by myself at Disney World and being able to jump off the diving board
  • My favorite stroke is … backstroke [demonstrated, not said]
