5 Things to Bring to Your First Adult Swimming Class in Budd Lake

If you’ve signed up for adult swimming classes in the Budd Lake area, the next step is deciding what to bring to your first lesson. At British Swim School North New Jersey, we recommend the following gear for all our adult students:

  • Comfortable swimwear – Choose a suit that fits well, and doesn’t require adjustment after every movement. Snug-fitting suits without embellishments are best as they reduce drag in the water.
  • Goggles – While not required, most adults in our swimming classes prefer to wear goggles to protect their eyes from chlorine. To find the right pair for you, head to your local sporting goods store. Choose a pair that’s comfortable, and to avoid leaky goggles, make sure there are no gaps in the gasket where the goggles touch your face.
  • Swim cap – Long, color treated, or dry hair? A swim cap can help protect your hair from chlorine and keeps it out of the way during class.
  • Robe or cover-up – In addition to a towel, many in our adult swimming classes in Budd Lake like to have something to throw on while they are heading to the locker room and drying off, such as a robe or cover-up. Aquatic cover-ups are sold in many sporting goods stores and provide coverage without the bulk of a standard robe.
  • Flip-flops – Pool sandals or flip-flops are a favorite for walking around the locker room and on the pool deck. Be sure to choose a pair with rubber soles for better traction on wet surfaces.
  • Toiletries – After swimming class, it’s a good idea to rinse off the chlorine with a hot shower. Bringing along essential toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and deodorant, make it easy to freshen up fast.
