British Swim School Jersey Shore is pleased to introduce our new Aquatics Director, Alex Carpenter. Alex comes to British Swim School’s premium Water Safety and Learn to Swim Program with a wealth of experience not only managing and building swim programs throughout New Jersey, but also as a competitive swimmer in New Jersey as well.
Alex swam for Jackson Memorial High School all 4 years he was in school for Head Swim Coach John Pelano. Coach Pelano still leads the Jackson Memorial Jaguars Swim Team today! As an aside Coach Pelano’s daughter Kristina has joined our team as a Swim Instructor at LA Fitness Howell. More to come on her in future News.
Alex went on to continue his education at William Paterson University of New Jersey, where he swam all 4 years, achieving a Major in Psychology. Although recruited as a free style sprinter he quickly became a jack of all trades as he eventually swam not only distance races, but also the Individual Medley, which requires execution of all 4 swim strokes. All these strokes and distances require different approaches for training and conditioning, which is not an easy thing to execute, especially at the collegiate level!
At a very young age, Alex has a achieved a lifetime of experience working all things Aquatic including, lifeguard, swim instructor, swim coach, aquatic director and safety director. Alex helped found, build, and coach the Saffin Pond Swim Program in Jefferson Township NJ, coached and created the Swim Team for Lifetime Fitness/Robert Wood Johnson Fitness Center in Lawrenceville, and was Aquatic Director at Meridian Fitness in Jackson,. He also served as a Lifeguard Supervisor and Regional Manager for Sparkling Pool Services and most recently was Director of Operations and Safety at the Western Monmouth YMCA.
Alex brings enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to British Swim School and looks forward to meeting and working with all our students and parents. Alex says. “I am really excited to build on and grow the British Swim School program in Howell and throughout New Jersey. New Jersey has always been my home, and I really believe that what British Swim School has to offer is ideal around here, considering all the waterways all around us. Not to mention the Ocean!”

Alex is mastering British Swim School’s fun and gentle methods and is excited to teach the children of New Jersey how to be safe and happy in the water. Alex will be tasked with building, developing, and managing an amazing team of Swim Instructors, who will embrace our goal of making every person we teach, regardless of age and ability, safe and happy swimmers. Always striving to ensure that all students and families have a great time as well.
