At British Swim School, we believe everyone can become a safe and happy swimmer with the right guidance and approach. Our mission is to equip everyone with the skills necessary to be a stronger swimmer.

At our swim school, we offer much more than traditional swimming lessons. Our survival-first approach prioritizes water safety education and survival skill training for all our students. We understand the importance of instilling confidence and teaching water safety skills, regardless of age or skill level.

Our comprehensive program prepares every student with the essential survival skills needed to stay safe in the water. We teach our students how to react in emergency situations, and how to safely exit the water in the event of accidental falls or emergencies.

Besides our survival-first approach, we also teach traditional swimming strokes in a fun and engaging manner, making our program ideal for swimmers of all levels.

So, what types of classes do we offer?

  • Water acclimation. These classes are perfect for those who are just starting out on their swimming journey. They provide a gentle introduction to the water and help swimmers feel comfortable and safe. Through fun activities like splashing and singing, instructors work to reduce any potential for tears and build confidence in the water.
  • Water survival. Once swimmers have acclimated to the water, they can move on to learning survival skills. In these classes, swimmers build on their existing skills to learn how to explore the water independently. They will learn important safety skills, such as the back float and swim strokes, which are essential for staying safe in the water.
  • Stroke development. More advanced swimmers are ready to learn swimming strokes. These classes focus on perfecting the four main swimming strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Instructors work with swimmers to refine their techniques and improve their overall performance in the water.

Meet the Team Behind British Swim School

British Swim School of Gwinnett-Hall is locally owned and operated by Scott and Tracie Henrichsen. Scott brings a wealth of business experience with over twenty years working primarily in professional and minor league sports. The father of three has served in multiple positions, from sales executive to team president. Tracie also has a wide array of professional experience when it comes to interacting with the public, but it was her time as a swim instructor and lifeguard during her teenage years that instilled a love for the water.

“It was just a good marriage of Scotts’ business background and then my customer service and interest in swimming,” admitted Tracie. “We’re motivated to have this be successful because it’s something we genuinely feel is important, and also because it’ll give us a better quality of life and better work-life balance.”

Swimming is an important life skill that everyone should learn. That’s why we pride ourselves on providing a safe and supervised environment for swimmers to build confidence and improve water safety. The benefits of swimming are endless, and it’s also a lot of fun!

“In addition to the skill and the survival element of what we do, I think there’s an opportunity to give kids confidence,” Tracie said. “It provides a different kind of exercise and fitness and is something that can be done at a very recreational and casual level.”
