FAQ

Our Swim lessons vary depending on the class level. All children and young adult lessons are $40 per lesson. Adult Swim lessons are $52 per lesson. For our Barracuda program (pre-swim team) we use a monthly pricing structure, the cost is $225 per month and each class is 60 minutes in length.

The non-refundable Annual Family Registration Fee is $65 and is charged upon initial enrollment and annually thereafter.
A note about our billing. All classes, except for the Barracuda program, are billed per class. Usually, you will be billed for four classes per month, but some months you may be billed for five classes because your lesson falls on a day with five lessons per month. Other months it could be three lessons because of a holiday or planned closure. Tuition for the next month is charged on the 25th of every month.

You should take the easy swim assessment on this website and then choose the location that works best for you. You will then be able to choose the best time for you and enroll immediately online. Our instructors are highly trained, passionate professionals specializing in water safety and survival skills. Every instructor completes the comprehensive British Swim School Training Program, which includes detailed in-water coaching and online curriculum components. We prioritize safety, with training covering key safety elements and many instructors holding CPR and Lifeguard certifications. All team members benefit from continuous coaching and professional development.

Our small group lessons are designed to offer individualized support, and the ratio of students to instructors varies depending on the swim level. For our Under 3 classes, the Tadpole and Swimboree levels have a 6:1 ratio, while the Seahorse level maintains a smaller 4:1 ratio. Our classes for Over 3 students—including Starfish, Minnow, and Turtle 1—all have a 4:1 ratio. For more Stroke Classes, the ratio is 6:1 and Barracuda is 10:1. Finally, our Young Adult and Adult classes have a 3:1 ratio.

Our step-by-step program focuses on water acclimation, survival skills, and stroke development. The familiar format of each lesson offers comfort and consistency as you progress through our levels, making each transition smooth and seamless. Please review the website to learn more about each level including the goals for each level.

You can email us at Greaterboston@britishswimschool.com or call or text us at 781-753-4423. Our office hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 12pm.

Swimmers can start as early as 3 months old—because it’s never too soon to learn water safety. There’s no age limit, so whether you’re learning as a toddler, teenager, or anywhere in between, we have a program to help you become a safer swimmer.

We are committed to tracking and celebrating every student's progress. Each program provides five clear goals, and these goals guide our lessons, ensuring instruction fits the student's unique skills and learning style. Swimmers advance through the levels at their own pace, moving up once they can consistently perform all five goals for their current level.

No, we do not offer trial lessons but you are welcome to come to the pool while we are open for lessons and see our program in action.

As a courtesy to you, we offer makeup lessons that you can schedule directly through our British Swim School app.

We hope you can find a class that has availability,  but if not, you can join our waitlist. There are no fees to join the waitlist. Once you are on the waitlist and we have an opening we will reach out to you via email and text and ask you to respond within 48 hours to take the spot. You are welcome to join more than one waitlist.

Finding your level is simple. Select your nearest local pool and complete our online swim assessment. This fast tool matches the swimmer's age and experience with the ideal curriculum level. Once matched, you can view current class schedules, select a convenient day and time, and register online. If you need assistance, our team is just a phone call away.

Safety is our top priority. Every swim instructor undergoes a rigorous vetting process and completes our comprehensive, proprietary British Swim School certification program. Additionally, our instructors hold nationally recognized certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid. This ensures you and your family receive expert instruction focused on water survival skills and life-saving techniques in every single lesson.

Our curriculum is built on a goal-driven, step-by-step progression where students learn at their own pace. Each distinct swim level features five clearly defined safety and skill milestones. Instructors continuously track performance during lessons to celebrate achievements. Once a student masters the five goals of their current level, they transition seamlessly to the next class tier without waiting for a new semester to begin.

We keep our class sizes small to ensure personalized attention and maximum water safety. Our water acclimation and toddler water survival classes maintain a strict 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. As swimmers advance into our stroke development and pre-team levels, classes maintain a 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio. This guarantees a supportive, focused environment for every swimmer

Our specialized, year-round curriculum is divided into three primary programmatic tiers: Water Acclimation (building comfort and breaking water fear), Water Survival (teaching foundational life-saving floating and breathing techniques), and Stroke Development (mastering competitive swim strokes, speed, and stamina). Within these tiers, we offer targeted programs for infants, toddlers, kids, teens, and adults, alongside specialized adaptive aquatics.

Children can begin learning vital water safety skills in our infant classes as early as 3 months old. We firmly believe it is never too soon to introduce babies to gentle water acclimation. Our programs feature no upper age limit, meaning we provide tailored classes for every milestone—whether you are looking for toddler survival skills, youth swim technique, or adult swimming lessons.
