Ronald Hall

Ronald has been with us for a few months. Learning to swim and feel safe in the water was on his bucket list, and he felt now was the time to learn. He came to us with a bit of fear of the water as a young man, he had an unfortunate experience with the water that left him with a very healthy fear and respect for the water. He has decided it was time to over-come that fear but will always have the respect for the power of water.

The first question we get from adults is always the same: “How long will it take me to learn to swim?” Our answer is always the same: “That depends on you.” How motivated are you? How much time will you practice? Is there fear and for how long? Ronald has carried fear of the water around with him for some 50 years. It is hard to get over that in a few weeks. It would seem, however, that his determination outweighs his fear.

During his lesson last week, he proudly proclaimed that he had swam across the pool alone during his practicing. He has been diligently working on his elementary backstroke and feels great that he is able to go the whole length of the pool. We look forward to continuing his instruction, and the day when he is able to swim freestyle. Great work, and keep it up Ronald!
