Coach Alex is a one of a kind guy. Not only is he a great swim coach, he is also an accomplished competitive swimmer, he is a lover of traveling and antiquing and to our excitement, has recently become our British Swim School Franchises’ Director of Operations.
Alex has been a life-long swim enthusiast. Since the young age of 3 years old, in his home state of Indiana, Alex began lessons and started competing in “Age Group” competitions (a national standard for swim competitions where swimmers compete against their own age group and are ranked). By middle school Alex assisted with coaching “Age Group” swimmers and even helped coach his younger sister. She later went on to rank 20th in the nation during Olympic qualification trials.
In high school, Alex earned a spot on the swim team; he excelled in competitive swim meets and ultimately placed in the Indiana State Finals. After school, he continued his passion for swim by beginning a career in the swim school industry. He became a swim school operator, obtaining certifications in CPR, lifeguarding, WSI Red Cross, First Aid and completed the training involved to become a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) in the state of Illinois.
However, Alex isn’t all work, traveling is his passion. He has traveled to several major cities all over the country to be a part of their Indepence Day celebrations. He also collects antique keys; a collection influenced by his parents who loved to go antiquing. “I’ve always loved the symbolism of keys and loved collecting them with my parents.”
Upon joining British Swim School, Alex stated, “British Swim School has a real family feeling to the organization. I felt at home on Day 1 and truly get the sense that my opinions matter. I’m genuinely happy that I get to work to my full potential!”
Coach Alex went on to add, “I would encourage families to join British Swim School because BSS is passionately devoted to the most fundamental skills in the water, water survival. The program is really focused on helping each student to become safe and confident in the water first, something other swim schools miss.”
We are happy to have Alex as a member of our BSS family!
