Three Common Questions About Swimming Classes in Orlando

With endless ways to enjoy water in the Orlando, FL area, it’s important for every child to know water safety and survival, as well as how to swim. That’s why so many parents in Kissimmee, Celebration, Osceola, and Windermere choose British Swim School of Southwest Orlando for their children’s swimming classes. Our swimming classes incorporate water safety skills into every session in an engaging, fun environment that kids love.

Many parents want to enroll their children in swimming classes, but have some questions before they do. Here are three questions commonly asked about our Orlando-area swimming classes:

  1. Do you teach more than survival skills?
Yes! After our students learn to to jump in, submerge, surface, and float independently, we begin to introduce propulsion, learn-to-swim, and stroke classes. First, children will learn to swim the length of the pool, then they’ll move on to swim strokes, strength, and stamina. When children complete the Shark 2 level, they are invited to join our swim team.
  2. How many children are in each class?
At British Swim School of Southwest Orlando, we believe that swimming lessons are safest and most effective when class sizes are kept small, so we limit each class to four to six children per class, depending on the class level. This allows our instructors to give direct supervision and instruction while getting to know each child individually.
  3. Are parents expected to be in the water during swim classes?
We have two “Parent and Me” classes, Tadpole and Swimboree, with one parent or guardian in the water. You do not need to know how to swim to assist your child in the pool, and you will not be asked to submerge your head. For all other classes, parents stay on the pool deck, where they can observe their child’s class.
