Hi everyone!
My name is Matt Blotney and I am the Aquatics Director for British Swim School of Southwest Orlando. I am originally from Connecticut, where my career in aquatics began. I swam competitively for 14 years from age-group for the West Haven Wizards, in high school at West Haven High, and in college at Southern Connecticut State University. I was also a lifeguard which led to me becoming a swim instructor, and from there I worked up to become an assistant swim coach at both the age-group and high school level. I also worked in athletic facility maintenance full-time, driving a Zamboni at the local ice rink. When my family and I moved to Florida I started working at a golf course but really wanted to get back into swimming and I found the British Swim School! I do my best to make it to all our locations to say hello and see how your child’s lessons are going, so if you see me and have any questions or concerns, please don’t be afraid to ask! You might even find me in the water some night either teaching classes or training a new instructor. I hope to see you at the pool soon!
Fun Fact: My favorite movie is Ghostbusters and when I was younger I would always answer that I wanted to be a Ghostbuster when I grow up. (I still do…)
