Two months. That’s how long the summer stretches once school lets out, and for most parents living in North York, the hard part isn’t filling a single afternoon, it’s finding something worth their kid’s time week after week. British Swim School of North Central Toronto’s summer camp at the Champagne Swim Centre is built for exactly that stretch. It’s a full day, a full week, run start to finish around the water, where kids ages 6 to 12 come out stronger swimmers, safer around water, and genuinely glad they went.
Why a swim-focused summer camp?
An Ontario summer runs on water. There’s the cottage, the neighbour’s backyard pool, the lake on a long weekend, the splash pad down the street. Your kid is going to be in it, around it, and near it for two solid months, and how safe that feels comes down to what they can actually do when they’re in over their head. That’s the case for a camp built on the water instead of one that visits it for an hour.
A week of real, daily practice does more for a child than a scattered handful of lessons ever could, and they finish it able to handle themselves, not just paddle around when an adult’s watching.
What makes British Swim School’s camp different?

Plenty of summer programs slot a swim block in somewhere. Here the water is the whole point, taught the British Swim School way that families across North Central Toronto already know, with safety and survival skills coming first and stroke development built on top. Instruction is matched to where each child actually is, so a cautious six-year-old and a confident eleven-year-old both get a week that fits. It’s real teaching, not just supervised splashing, so a kid actually moves forward over the week instead of passing time in the pool.
What does a day at camp look like?
The day runs from 9 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon, long enough to actually go somewhere. Mornings lean into focused swim instruction while kids are fresh, working real technique at their own level. The week moves between time in the pool and interactive games on land, and since campers change into dry clothes for the land activities, they stay warm and comfortable instead of shivering through the afternoon.

Woven through all of it is the hands-on water safety and life-saving practice that teaches a child what to do if something goes wrong, handled in a way that builds confidence rather than fear. Group challenges keep things social between the structured pieces, so campers leave with new friends alongside new skills. The Champagne Drive location is a standalone, indoor, climate-controlled facility with its own showers and changing rooms, so the post-swim cleanup is quick and the day stays easy on parents. For you, it adds up to a full, supervised day you’re not scrambling to fill, and a kid who comes home tired in the best way.
Who is the summer camp for?
The camp is open to kids ages 6 to 12 at every level, from those still finding their nerve in the water to those already swimming laps. On day one, campers are gently assessed and placed into age-appropriate groups, so the week meets each child exactly where they are. If your child has never done a swim camp before, it’s a good place to start. If they’ve outgrown casual lessons, there’s room to push.
When and where is the camp?
Two full-week sessions, both running 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM:
- Session A: July 13 to 17
- Session B: August 10 to 14
Both take place at Champagne Swim Centre, 2 Champagne Drive, Unit E1, North York. Each session is $499 plus tax per camper for the full week, and spaces are kept limited to protect the small group sizes, so the popular weeks tend to go first.
What should my child bring?

You won’t be left guessing. Once you enroll, you’ll receive a welcome email with a complete packing list and the daily logistics, so you’ll know exactly what to send and what to expect well before the first morning. Camp runs on the same trusted framework as regular British Swim School lessons, just stretched across a full, active week.
How do I register?
There are only two weeks of camp all summer, and the spots in each go on a first-come basis. Once the week you want is full, that’s it until next year!
