Adaptive Swim Lessons for Children with a Broad Range of Physical and Learning Disabilities
Bucks County, PA (March 8, 2017) – British Swim School of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to announce the launch of their new Adaptive Swim Program expanding their reach to local children with a broad range of Physical and/or Learning Disabilities. These include, but are not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Downs Syndrome, AD/HD, Sensory Challenges, and Coordination Difficulties in order to provide students with the lifelong skill of being safe and comfortable in the water and to increase their confidence and independence in social and recreational activities. Some of the additional benefits include:
- Increased Muscle Tone
- Increased Strength and Coordination
- Improved Motor Planning and Self-Regulation
- Decrease in Hyperactivity and Improved Focus
- Improved Confidence and Self-Esteem
Nick Adcock has joined the British Swim School team to take the lead role in introducing the Adaptive Swim Program. He brings a strong set of experiences to the school:
- Nationally Ranked Para Olympic Swimmer, Freestyle and Backstroke
- 3 Years Coaching and Instruction at Philadelphia Special Olympics
- 6 Years Teaching Adaptive Swim Lessons for a Wide Range of Special Needs (Physical and Learning Disabilities)
- Both private and small group lessons will be offered and each prospective student will be given an in-water personal assessment to assure proper class assignment.
British Swim School of Greater Philadelphia, the local franchise of the nation’s premiere water safety and swim program for children, has been teaching Bucks County children how to be safe and happy swimmers since February of 2016. They currently operate two school locations; Bucks Physical Therapy in Richboro and LA Fitness in Bensalem. Collectively, British Swim School operates nationally in 16 states with 100 school locations and teaches more than 9,000 lessons weekly.
