  • We do not use fixed sessions, so you can start your enrollment at any time. Enrollment leads to an ongoing membership which is auto-renewed every month. Because we do not operate under “sessions”, students graduate to the next level as soon as they achieve the 5 goals for their current level. You remain enrolled with auto-billing until you provide us with 30-day notice of your wish to pause or cancel and your enrollment and fees will continue throughout the 30-day period.
  • Classes are 30 minutes in length and include in-water training and pool deck observation.
  • All lessons are non-transferable, and we require 30-days advance notice to pause or cancel any class.
  • All survival classes, including adults, are conducted in small groups (4:1 student/instructor ratio maximum, Tadpole and Stroke Development classes 6:1 student/instructor ratio max).
  • If your child is under the age of 3 or not potty trained, they will need to be double-diapered. This is a disposable swim diaper with a reusable swim diaper on top. A diaper changing area is provided for your convenience.
  • When you initially enroll, your first month’s tuition will be pro-rated based on the number of classes you will receive. If you enroll on the 20th of the month or later, you will automatically be registered for the following month as well.
  • Annual Membership Fee: New enrollments will be charged a $59 Membership Fee upon enrollment. This fee will only be charged once to families with an uninterrupted enrollment. If your account becomes inactive because you have paused or canceled your account for any reason, you must pay another Membership Fee upon re-enrollment if the re-enrollment occurs more than 365 days after the previous enrollment. This fee includes a student “Welcome Pack”, with a colorful British Swim School swimming bag and a swimming cap. There is no charge for move-up swimming caps at each graduation.
  • When you initially enroll, your first month’s tuition will be pro-rated based on the number of classes you will receive. If you enroll on the 20th of the month or later, you will automatically be registered for the following month as well.
  • Tuition: Monthly flat fee that is automatically charged via credit card or bank withdrawal on the 25th of each month for the following month.
  • Waitlist: There is no charge to be placed on a waitlist for a class, but a credit card is required to hold your spot.
  • Private and Semi-Private lessons are available upon request and subject to availability. Please call our office for more information.
  • We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We also accept ACH / Bank Drafts. Your method of payment will be automatically debited on the 25th of every month for the following month’s lessons.


Make-Up Class Offer: FOR ACTIVE/ENROLLED STUDENTS ONLY

  • If you are going to be absent from class, you must enter your absence into the British Swim School app.
  • You can schedule your own make-up class in the app.
  • Make-ups can be scheduled a max of 7 days out from the current date.
  • A make-up will be offered for classes that are canceled by BSS of Asheville.
  • We don’t charge for make-ups; they are offered as a courtesy. We rely on all BSS families to enter their own absences in the app so others can use that spot as a make-up.
  • Make-Up classes can’t be used as a credit or traded in for regularly enrolled lessons. No refunds or credits will be possible for missed classes or for any unused make-up classes.
  • Private class make-ups will be scheduled in a group class.

Our instructors are highly-trained, experienced, and passionate about teaching water safety. They complete our comprehensive British Swim School training and hold national certifications in lifeguarding and first aid to ensure safety is a priority in every lesson.

We’re committed to tracking and celebrating your progress. Each program provides five clear goals and you progress at your own pace. These goals guide our lessons and ensure you get instruction that fits your unique skills and learning style.

You join a small group and receive individual attention and tailored instruction. Water acclimation and water survival programs have a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio, with stroke development programs maintaining a 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio. 

Our step-by-step program focuses on water acclimation, survival skills, and stroke development. The familiar format of each lesson offers comfort and consistency as you progress through our levels, making each transition smooth and seamless. 

Swimmers can start as early as 3 months old—because it’s never too soon to learn water safety. There’s no age limit, so whether you're learning as a toddler, teenager, or anywhere in between, we have a program to help you become a safer swimmer.
