Barracuda Pre-Swim Team

Positioned as a pre-competition team, the focus of the Barracuda program is to bridge the gap between swim classes and competitive swim programs. Swimmers meet at least twice a week for a 1-hour session to refine their strokes, build endurance, and work as a team!
Our pre-swim team is a noncompetitive swim team within our swim school; it is called The Barracuda Program.
This program is meant to get swimmers ready to swim competitively on a team.
Swimmers must:
- express a strong personal interest in being a part of a swim team
- be prepared for workouts, remain positive, and give their best effort at each practice
- demonstrate commitment for attendance

Barracuda 1
Pre-requisites:
- 25 y freestyle with side breath and no stopping
- 25 y backstroke, no stopping
- 25 y breaststroke, no stopping
- 15 y butterfly, no stopping
- Tread water for 1 minute
- Express a strong interest in being part of a swim team
Basic goals:
- Legal strokes in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke
- 50 y freestyle with proper flip turn and no stopping
- 50 y backstroke with proper flip turn and no stopping
- 50 y breaststroke, no stopping
- 25 y butterfly, no stopping
- Proper dives to start freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly
- Proper start for backstroke
- Understanding lane etiquette, circle swimming, pace clock
- Must be prepared for workouts, remain positive and give best at each practice

- Swim cap
- Swim goggles
- Kickboard
- Junior sized, forward-facing snorkel
Barracuda 2
Pre-requisites:
- 50 y freestyle with proper flip turn and no stopping and finish in 65 seconds
- 50 y backstroke with proper flip turn and no stopping and finish in 70 seconds
- 50 y breaststroke, no stopping and finish in 75 seconds
- 25 y butterfly, no stopping
Basic goals:
- 100 y freestyle with proper flip turns and no stopping
- 100 y backstroke with proper flip turns and no stopping
- 100 y breaststroke, no stopping
- 50 y butterfly, no stopping
- 4 X 25 y individual medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle), no stopping
Equipment needed:
- Swim cap
- Swim goggles
- Kickboard
- Junior sized, forward-facing snorkel
- Short fins for swim practice
Barracuda 3
Pre-requisites:
- 100 y freestyle with proper flip turns and no stopping and finish in 1 minute 50 seconds
- 100 y backstroke with proper flip turns and no stopping and finish in 2 minutes 5 seconds
- 100 y breaststroke, no stopping and finish in 2 minutes 20 seconds
- 50 y butterfly, no stopping and finish in 1 minute 15 seconds
- 4 X 25 y individual medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle), no stopping and finish in 2 minutes 10 seconds
- Must be prepared for high endurance workout sessions
Basic goals:
- 50 y freestyle in 50 seconds
- 100 y freestyle in 1 minute 45 seconds
- 100 y backstroke in 1 minute 58 seconds
- 100 y breaststroke in 2 minutes 15 seconds
- 100 y butterfly in 2 minutes 10 seconds
