Brett Hull’s Pep Rally
The Blues can win the Stanley Cup and we can make “Not One More Drowning” a reality.
We at British Swim School are dedicated to the goal. SWIM-ON Foundation is dedicated to the goal. The recent roundtable of stakeholders in St. Louis is dedicated to the goal. The American Academy of Pediatrics is dedicated to the goal. And, of course Bode and Morgan Miller and Nicole Hughes as well as so many others.
How do we know we can do this? The recent report from Florida. For years, Florida and Texas have led the country in drowning rates. But for the first time ever in February and March of this year Florida had ZERO drownings. ZERO! NOT ONE!
What has Florida been doing? In Florida, pediatricians talk to patients about water safety and write a “prescription” for swim lessons. Daycares and preschools are required to incorporate water safety and recommendations for swim lessons as part of their licensing. Schools teach water safety and encourage lessons.
The epidemic needs to stop. There needs to be “Not One More”. We can do this.
Swim lessons that teach water survival and safety are key. In combination with the other layers of protection like adult supervision, fences and barriers, emergency response and CPR and regulation life vests drowning is preventable.
To all the parents who have enrolled their kids in lessons with British Swim School St. Louis, a heartfelt thank you for moving us closer to “Not One More”
