This trumps soccer, ballet lessons, lacrosse,<\/strong>\u201d she says. \u201cYou should continue lessons,\u201d she adds, \u201cuntil your child can swim the long length of the pool with a recognizable stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dana also points out that \u201cwhen a child drowns, it is not because he has bad parents. It happens to good people who usually just thought that someone else was watching, or looked away for a minute. It happens in a second. It is a tragedy. It is an accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrowning is silent and deadly,\u201d she says. \u201cKids do not splash, they just quietly sink. It happens in a moment.
