Many adults that have never learned how to swim want to spend more time in the pool with their families. Others want to improve their swim technique, get in shape, or learn water safety.

If you have recently enrolled in adult swimming classes, you may be starting to think about what you’ll need for your first class. At British Swim School Raleigh, we recommend bringing the following equipment:

A good pair of goggles – Wearing goggles will protect your eyes from chlorine and help you acclimate to putting your face in the water. Choose a quality pair that fit well and don’t leak.

A form-fitting suit – While most women’s swimsuits are snug, men’s swim trunks can be baggy, adding resistance in the water. Choose a form-fitting suit that fits comfortably to reduce drag.

Swim cap – Swim caps have come a long way in recent years, and are much more comfortable than you may remember. Along with protecting hair from chlorine, they keep long hair up and out of the way.

Robe and towel – A towel is essential for drying off, but many adults also like to bring a robe along so they can cover up after their swim, but they aren’t required.

Sandals or flip-flops – If you don’t like being barefoot in the locker room or are concerned about slippery conditions bring non-skid sandals or flip-flops for walks from the locker room to the pool deck.

Toiletries – It’s always a good idea to rinse off the chlorine after a swim, so be sure to bring any toiletries you might need, such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturizer, and deodorant.

Enroll in Adult Swimming Classes in Raleigh Today

Ready to take the plunge?
