Out of the Pool Conditioning: British Swim School at the USSSA Annual Conference

British Swim School recently had the opportunity to attend the United States Swim School Association’s (USSSA) Annual Conference. Although this year’s conference was held virtually, the combination of live sessions, on-demand sessions and interactive workshops provided opportunities for our team to learn from, and network with, the best in the industry! The conference covered a wide range of topics and connected attendees with industry-leading guest speakers.

“I thought that the whole virtual conference was planned and executed really well” said Melissa McGarvey, British Swim School’s Director of Aquatics. “The app was fantastic for meeting with people and making connections, easy to use and watch recorded presentations.”

One of the most impactful sessions for Cassie Prochilo, franchise owner from Pembroke Pines, was hearing from Laurie Lawrence, a legendary Australian swimming coach! “He is an incredible speaker, but he also has some amazing points that you can't be scared to move forward and you're only as strong as your team,” said Cassie. We couldn’t agree more!

Cassie continued to say, “It's always great being a part of the conference. Although 2020 has been a mess, it was nice to speak to other swim school owners and know you're not alone. All the members are always so kind, but most of all they give the best advice as they are in the same boat you are.”

We make it a priority to regularly learn and incorporate the most recent swim industry trends into our program. As British Swim School’s Director of Aquatics, Melissa McGarvey trains and develops our aquatics staff to ensure that our program is running properly with industry-leading techniques and methodologies. For Melissa, “a key takeaway was hearing and seeing presentations that reassured me that we are on the right track at British Swim School and in some ways even ahead of the curve! I learned more about special abilities, safety and training that will all be brought into future training and presentations for our system.”

We are proud to support and partner with the USSSA but most importantly, we’re excited to bring the latest trends and techniques to our aquatics program!
