On April 4th, 2019 , Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop joined British Swim School, the premier provider of water survival and swim lessons renowned for their popular location in Paulus Hook, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lincoln High School pool, the swim school\u2019s next location in Jersey City and their first location outside of downtown.<\/p>\n
For the ceremony, British Swim School invited the neighborhood to discover their new location with an afternoon full of fun, and more than 50 children from the local community followed the call and enjoyed the free bouncy castle, face painting and popcorn.<\/p>\n

\nThis is British Swim School\u2019s first Jersey City location outside of downtown, which is an important step for local franchise owner Robert Stapf<\/em>. \u201cOur mission is to save as many lives as possible, and we have heard from many Jersey City residents who don\u2019t live downtown that they would love to have us closer and more accessible to them. We are very proud that we can finally bring our important service into their local community. A lot of businesses focus on the downtown Jersey City area, but we want to bring water safety to all of Jersey City. This is just the first of several locations that we are planning to open outside of downtown.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWater safety, also for children in urban areas, is such an important topic that is simply not on the radar enough\u201d adds Robert Stapf. \u201cBesides providing swim lessons, it\u2019s our mission to educate the community about the dangers and misconceptions of water safety. According to the CDC, drowning is the number one reason of accidental death for children under the age of 5! Parents buy car safety seats for their kids, but they don\u2019t necessarily think about swim lessons \u2013 which is even more important to keep their children safe. We are here to raise awareness and change that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLessons at LHS will be\u00a0held year-round Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4pm and 8:30pm as well as on Saturday mornings<\/em>. Enrollment is constant, and open now. Parents are encouraged to enroll soon \u2013 before the spring rush starts, as class sizes are very small (4:1 ratio) and book out fast. Prices start at $28.30 per 30-minute lesson.<\/p>\n
\nBritish Swim School offers a two-step curriculum teaching children and adults of all ages, some as young as three months, water safety and survival skills, along with swimming skill development. While parental supervision is always the number one safety measure, research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning.<\/p>\n
\nThe British Swim School franchise concept operates a unique water safety program with teaching methods that serve as a trademark for the brand.
