Hello families,<\/p>\n

You have been patiently waiting to hear an update on our Barracudas swim team and tryouts. Here it is!<\/p>\n

We are happy to announce that our TRYOUTS will be ongoing during regular classes. If you are interested on being part of the team, please check with your instructor. More info about All Things Barracuda below.<\/p>\n

WHAT IS THE BARRACUDAS TEAM?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Barracudas will be a swim pre-team program for those students that are competent in all the goals of Shark 2:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0 \u00a0 Backstroke 50 yards<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0 \u00a0 Freestyle 50 yards<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. \u00a0 \u00a0 Breaststroke 50 yards<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0 \u00a0 Butterfly 50 yards<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. \u00a0 \u00a0 Starts and turns for each of the 4 strokes<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Barracudas will be the superstars of our swim school!<\/p>\n

    \"Barracudas<\/p>\n

    The Barracudas team is a\u00a0stepping-stone<\/strong>\u00a0between our recreational stroke development program and a competitive club or academic swim team.<\/p>\n

    Students will\u00a0perfect their individual technique, improve their stamina and speed, and learn about competing and team-building<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Barracudas is the perfect preparation for joining a local or school swim team!<\/p>\n

    POOL LOCATIONS:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    We will be practicing in an Olympic size pool 2x per week, plus one time at one of our regular pools.<\/p>\n

    The Olympic size pool inside Dickinson High School in Jersey City.<\/p>\n

    This pool is the perfect location because the water isn’t too warm so the students won’t get overheated and the lanes are long to help with their endurance.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    TEAM PRACTICE SCHEDULE:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Wednesday 7pm-8pm:\u00a0DICKINSON HIGH SCHOOL, JERSEY CITY<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Fridays\u00a07pm-8pm:\u00a0DICKINSON HIGH SCHOOL, JERSEY CITY<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Saturdays 10am-11am:\u00a0LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL, JERSEY CITY<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      All practices are one hour long.<\/p>\n

      Students will spend most of the allotted time in the water, but there may also be related activities and discussions that will take place outside the pool on deck.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      TEAM TUITION:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      We are charging a\u00a0flat monthly fee of $299<\/strong>\u00a0for 3 one-hour sessions per week.<\/p>\n

      THERE WILL BE NO MAKEUPS<\/strong>\u00a0for absences.<\/p>\n

      Students are welcome to come to as many classes as they wish and encouraged to come to all three practices every week!\u00a0Attendance\u00a0of a minimum of 2\u00a0practices\u00a0per week is highly recommended for\u00a0continuous\u00a0progress.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      WHAT TO BRING:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

      Students should bring swim goggles and a silicone cap for the tryouts(available for purchase at the pool if you wish). We also suggest that our male swimmers wear a jammer and our female swimmers wear a one-piece bathing suit to help prevent drag. All those who make the team will be provided a Barracudas swim cap, BSS swim goggles and a shammy towel. We will also have all necessary training aids at the pool.<\/p>\n

      TRYOUTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

      We will be holding try-outs to qualify for the team, during which swimmers\u00a0must demonstrate the 5 above mentioned goals<\/strong>\u00a0– which are the goals for Shark 2.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      HOW TO TRY OUT?\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

      In order to try out, you must talk to your Instructor or Assisting Manager. We will then coordinate with you to come to our Dickinson Location. All of our Instructors are always scouting for students with great ability. However, unless you have an interest in the team, we will not know if Barracuda is the right fit for you.<\/p>\n

      2 Palisade Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07306<\/p>\n

      The pool is located in the building adjacent\u00a0to the main High School building. There is a free parking lot.<\/p>\n

      BARRACUDAS HEAD COACH:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      We are happy to announce that\u00a0Derian\u00a0will be our head coach for Barracudas!<\/p>\n

      Derian is our most senior instructor and has a strong passion for teaching stroke development. Derian has experience in a competitive team setting. Derian will assemble an amazing team of coaches\/instructors that will help develop these superstar swimmers into the competitive Barracudas they were meant to be!<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      NOT READY FOR BARRACUDA JUST YET?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      We will be offering stroke development as well as Adult classes at our Dickinson Location on Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 6pm-9pm. This is the perfect opportunity for swimmers who aren’t quite ready for Barracuda to have stroke development classes with a Barracuda coach! This pool is much more spacious and is also the perfect environment for Adult Classes. This pool will be used for stroke development and Adult classes only. That’s right no more crying babies and scared starfish, this will be the ideal learning environment.<\/p>\n
