Born and raised in North Carolina, Kayla grew up on a farm where she truly lived the ‘Old McDonald’ life-style. It is there that she, along with her 2 siblings, helped take in and care for all kinds of animals.

After highschool, Coach Kayla left the farm life when she received an art scholarship to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It is there where she fine tunes her artistic style in painting and sculpture. Her current work focuses on the complicated relationship between humanity and land and has been featured in the new arts publication Collective Terrain.

When Coach Kayla isn’t working on her art, she is out mountain biking. Mountain biking is another one of her passions, in which, she has honed her skills at and has even won a North Carolina State Championship for.

Another interest of Kayla’s are rocks. Kayla has an ever expanding rock collection of over 200 rocks from all over the US. She still knows the place of origin of each rock, along with the memory attached to the experience of collecting each one.

To add to Miss Kayla’s list of interests and talents, she is is an accomplished swimmer who’s achievements include winning the North Carolina All State Championship 4 years in a row. Taking her swimming success to the next level, she has joined the BSS team twice now. Once in 2017 and returned, after a small break, in late 2018. Kayla explained, “I love working at British Swim School Chicago. Even when I come to worked stressed about a school project or my social life, my students make me forget all about my troubles. My students help me gain perspective and they help me as much as I help them each day. I love seeing them grow; they energize me every day!”

“I wish that everyone who has a child would enroll them in lessons at British Swim School. This is because they focus on survival lessons first, which gives each parent ‘peace of mind’. In addition, 9 out of 10 kids will leave happier than when they arrived, so they love what we do!” says Kayla. “Of course, there may be a child on occasion who’s having a rough day or has fear of the water, but they will soon be in the happier category.”

We are happy to have Kayla as a member or our team… again.

British Swim School Chicago offers premium water survival and swimming lessons for infants, toddlers, children and adults, starting at just 3 months old.
