Let me begin by saying it is an honor and pleasure to be able to work with families teaching survival skills and perfecting stroke techniques here in the Hudson Valley.

My passion for the sport began as a freshman in high school as I joined the Monroe Eagle’s swim team in the Bronx, NY. Throughout my swimming career, I was able to reach many accomplishments. My first major accomplishment was winning first place swimming a 100 yard breaststroke at the NCAA Championship. This was the first of many trophies and medals that I have received throughout my swimming career. My most passionate and best stroke was freestyle with a time of 24.38 seconds for a 50 yard swim.

During all of those accomplishments, I was also able to become certified and trained as a lifeguard. Shortly after lifeguarding, I began to want to teach children how to swim as it was a common request by children at the swimming pool. Being a lifeguard for five years, I am able to see the threats the water can pose for non swimmers. This is where the interest to teach kids how to swim and be safe in the water began. I chose to work with British Swim School because unlike other programs, we teach basic survival skills prior to stroke development skills. In other words, we emphasize on teaching kids what to do when they’re in the water and in distress.

I am currently a junior studying Accounting in the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz. Besides studying and attending class, I swim at least three times a week to stay in fit and go on hikes and explore upstate given that I was born and raised in the Bronx. My plans on what I’m going to do in the future or after college is still a little unclear. I would definitely love to continue working with kids in the future. There isn’t anything more satisfying than playing and teaching children how to swim as I help them overcome water fears and have FUN!

Hello parents and students!
