I’m Katie, the Franchise Owner of British Swim School Hamilton County. My husband, Greg, and I have taken on this venture and we couldn’t be more excited to be bringing the British Swim School water survival and learn to swim program to Indiana!

But, you may be asking “Why did you choose a swim school??” I know most of my friends and family asked me that very thing. I can swim, but more in a casual “I won’t drown” kind of way. My swim style would best be described as something between a doggy paddle, back float, breast stroke hybrid…let’s just say I won’t be representing the United States in Tokyo 2020. I did, however, spend most of my career working in the field of education, specifically as a Case Director for children with Autism. Developing teams of staff and family members so that we could help each child reach his/her highest potential has been a passion of mine. From that perspective, a swim school wasn’t that far off the mark.

Greg’s choice for a swim school made much more intuitive sense. He swam competitively growing up and was a lifeguard in college. He can do the four swim strokes (freestyle, back stroke, breast, and butterfly) and make them actually look like four distinct strokes. What stuck out to him about the British Swim School program, though, was the focus on safety. He walks through life assessing the risk of any activity, analyzing ways to make something fun without losing the safety piece. Therefore, the focus on water safety and survival as paramount to our program was a natural fit for Greg.

While our backgrounds and personalities were aligned with British Swim School, it was our 3.5 year old son who motivated us to look into this business. Like many children his age, he loves the water, adores swimming, and has virtually no lifesaving skills when it comes to being in the water. We wanted a program that would be fun and keep him excited but would also teach him necessary water safety and survival skills. Nothing quite fit that bill until we found British Swim School. We love that this business allows us to provide education and outreach to the community while also teaching critical skills that could literally be the difference between life and death for children in the water.

We look forward to helping Indiana students of all ages and abilities become safe and happy swimmers!

British Swim School, Hamilton County offers premium water survival and swimming lessons for infants, toddlers, children and adults, starting at just 3 months old.
