Dynamic Duo Acquire a Top-Performing Florida Market
November 23, 2015
– With a combined 8 years of aquatics and management roles with British Swim School and nearly 30 years of swimming experience, Maybelline Yurco and Karese Cain have partnered to co-own the Hollywood and Miramar, Florida locations.
Karese swam competitively for 18 years, including swimming in the Caribbean games for Jamaica, where she lived until age 13. She received an athletic scholarship to Howard University and began to teach swimming to Arts and Science students during her sophomore year. She went on to earn her Water Safety Instructor license and later returned to Florida, where she began as an Instructor with British Swim School.
“I really love watching the progress of skills and helping people be water safe,” said Karese. “Ownership has been something that I have wanted for so long and my family and friends knew my potential before I did.”
Maybelline was a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard with the Wilton Family YMCA of Wilton, CT for 10 years and served as Aquatic Coordinator until she went to college. She joined British Swim School in 2011 as a swim instructor in the Aventura location. Under the direction of franchisee Antony White, she helped open new gym locations in Hollywood and Miramar. She has since served in a variety of roles with British Swim School including Senior Instructor, Satellite Locations Manager, National Aquatic Director and Aquatic Training Manager.
“Karese and I are completely different people but share the same values, ethics and morals, “ said Maybelline. “We were already close friends and co-workers, so when the opportunity to be co-owners presented itself, we immediately made the decision to dive in.”
“I truly enjoy the impact I make in students’ lives and how they look forward to telling me about their day in school,” added Maybelline. “I love seeing their smiles, hearing their giggles when I do something funny. This is my dream job.”
