Survival Week

Survival Week

For nearly 40 years, British Swim School has been teaching water safety and water survival. Safety is the number one goal of our program. We aim to deliver life changing life skills using fun and gentle methods. In order to highlight how important water safety truly is, every two months we host our Survival Week.

During Survival Week, students swim with clothing over their bathing suits. The weight of clothing feels much different in the water. Understanding what to do in an emergency requires practice, and Survival Week allows students to explore these situations in a safe environment.

In addition to regular lessons, extra survival skills will be incorporated. Students, family, and friends will practice drills for real life situations like falling in the water unexpectedly, calling for help, and learning about what happens if someone else falls in. Many more skills will be learned during this week!

During Survival Week, we ask that students wear additional light color clothing. Turtle 2 and above may wear long sleeves and pants. Students should also have a swimsuit on underneath their clothes.
