Don’t Be “Fool”ish this April – Save a Life with Swim Lessons

Water Safety is No Joke; Ensure Your Family is Prepared for Summertime Fun

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – Apr. 16, 2015 – It’s the time of year when teachers, students and families have begun the countdown to summer. The weather is warming up, Spring Break is over, and the clock is ticking until outdoor pools and beaches become a hot spot. British Swim School (BSS) uses this season to remind all families to take a hard look at the swimming abilities of each adult and child. If anyone in the family isn’t able to back float (the ultimate survival skill), he or she is in jeopardy and needs to learn how to swim.

There are staggering statistics about water injuries and deaths that need to be addressed. Each day in the United States, approximately ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these drownings, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the U.S. (www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreationalSafety/Water-Safety/waterinjuries-factsheet.html)

As we prepare for May, which is National Water Safety Month (http://www.nationalwatersafetymonth.org/), British Swim School encourages families to enroll in swim lessons now to help avoid water tragedies. By taking lessons this spring, swimmers will be safer this summer.

“We are proud to provide swimming lessons to communities because we can actually save lives through our work,” said Rita Goldberg, founder and CEO of British Swim School.

“The sport of swimming can enrich lives in many ways, but the bottom line is that if anyone is going to be near water – pools, lakes, rivers, oceans, hot tubs – they absolutely need to know the basics of water safety.”

Here are some things we all can do to share the message of drowning prevention in 2015:
