As you may know, SURVIVAL WEEK is scheduled for this month – and while we may not be able to host it by practicing our skills in the pool, our commitment to teaching water safety remains!

Read through this week’s special edition of Splash On! to find reminders about water safety guidelines, fun survival-themed activities for your children and online resources to explore on your own.

Take our Safe Swimmer Pledge! With summer around the corner, kids out of “traditional” school and time to fill, many of us will find ourselves in backyard pools or exploring lakes, creeks, and other waterways. Make sure that your child – and you – understand the basic rules of being a safe swimmer, which you can find on the Water Safety portion of our website. And while you’re there, take our Safe Swimmer Pledge with your child. Even if they are very young, it’s never too early to start talking about water safety!

Explore the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Water Safety Program: In addition to the resources linked here, the USACE’s site includes additional Water Safety Tips and guidance on choosing a project life jacket, plus much more.

  • Click here to print the Water Safety Adventure Sheet, which includes helpful tips for boat riders and fun activities to emphasize water safety.
  • How do you choose the right life jacket for yourself and those in your family? Watch the video below for helpful recommendations and guidance.

Play with Bobber the Water Safety Dog: this great mini-site – also from the US Army Corps of Engineers – includes fun cartoons, interactive games, downloadable trading cars and much more to keep your kids entertained while emphasizing key skills and water safety tips. Click the image below to access the site.

Help Josh find his way back to his life jacket! Print this fun sheet and talk to your children about the importance of always wearing a life jacket on a boat or water vehicle, and remember to put it on BEFORE you board the vehicle!

Safely Introduce Toddlers to the Water: Is your toddler still relatively new to their relationship with water? Our team has put together a tip sheet – attached – with some easy suggestions for making this transition as easy as possible, ensuring proper safety along the way.

We miss our swimmers and want to hear from them! We’ve created this fun printable for your child (or for you!) to tell us or show us why you can’t wait to get back to the pool! We’ll be sharing some of these on Facebook – scan or snap a photo of yours and send it in, then keep watching to see if yours is posted!

#SaveWithStories: Want to watch your favorite children’s stories read by celebrities and famous athletes, all for a good cause? Now you can, via Instagram by searching “#SaveWithStories.” Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams have enlisted top names – like Jimmy Fallon, Glenn Close…even Weird Al! – in an effort to raise funds for Save the Children and No Kid Hungry – two nonprofits with a critical mission right now.

We’d love to hear from you! Send us a short video to say hello via Facebook so we can share how everyone is doing!

We can’t wait to see everyone back in the pool!
