April 1 is often celebrated as a day to play jokes and have some innocent fun. By making people feel a little foolish, we all giggle and then move on. Here at British Swim School, we love a good laugh! But there are some times when being foolish is no joke – especially around the water.
It’s no secret that British Swim School’s main mission is to save lives. To us, April signifies a time when the weather starts heating up; outdoor pools are preparing to open around the country; parents are planning their kids’ summer camps and activities. Frankly, more people are swimming (or getting ready to). It’s time to avoid any foolishness and sign up for lessons!
Oh yes, it’s my job to say that. But I’m also quite serious about the importance of water safety. I’ve shared this statistic before, but it’s worth repeating:
Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States. (www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreationalSafety/Water-Safety/waterinjuries-factsheet.html)
I am a believer that we ALL can change these statistics. Enroll your kids in swimming lessons! Learn how to swim yourself! Make wise choices around the water!
What a great opportunity to brag about one of our franchisees, Bonnie. She recently held more than 1,000 lessons in ONE WEEK! Bonnie and her team of skilled instructors are saving lives with each one of those lessons. Now that’s something to celebrate!!
So let’s enjoy this spring warm-up and look forward to all the great times ahead of us. But if you or your kids aren’t prepared to actively practice water safety, please enroll today.
Warm Regards,
